Signs Your Pet May Have Allergies

As pet owners, sometimes it can be hard to know whether your pet is just fine, or if he’s not feeling well. Like people, dogs can also get different kinds of allergies and it is important to recognize the early signs that your pet may have allergies so that the problem can be resolved sooner. 

Signs Your Pet May Have Allergies

Allergies can show up for a variety of reasons such as adverse reactions to food, environments, skin products, chemicals, etc. Different pets may be impacted by the new stimuli in different ways. For example, a change in your pet’s diet may manifest through an outbreak of his skin. Although it can be difficult to tell what allergy it is without the help of a trained vet, here are a few of the common symptoms that show up in pets who have allergies: 

 

 

• Itching and/or Watery Eyes: If your pet is constantly scratching to take out an itch, whether it’s his paw, muzzle, ears, or body, then that may be an early warning sign of an allergy. Since allergies can manifest from different stimuli, it may be difficult to tell what the source is, so it is best to visit a veterinarian for guidance. 

 

 

 

• Skin Irregularities: Bumps, scratches, or inflammation on the skin is another sign that your pet may have allergies. If you’re brushing your pet’s fur or giving him a bath, keep an eye out for any irregularities. 

 

 

 

• Digestion Issues: If your pet is having a difficult time going to the bathroom and has an upset stomach, he may have allergies or something else that is bothering him. In these cases, it is best to consult with your local veterinarian.
